ABOUT

I've had an obsession for making art for as long as I can remember.  I've been told that in toddlerhood the only activities I could do for hours on end without interruption were drawing and painting. This affection was fostered by completing projects in art classes throughout my school years, but it wasn’t until an experience in 2004 that I discovered I was absolutely enamored with creating my own patterns and designs.

On a school adventure trip which involved remaining on a river boat for three days, my teenage classmates and I were desperate to find ways to entertain ourselves.  One girl had brought a bag of markers along and had been drawing doodles on her friends’ arms and legs, so I joined in.  For the first time there was no assignment. I let my intuition take over and imagination run wild, and my art world burst wide open. When I got home from that trip, I couldn’t stop creating designs.  From notebooks to test margins, wet beach sand to canvases, and duvet covers to bedrooms walls- these designs were aching to come out.

I continued creating through adulthood, sequestering this passion to the outskirts of my priorities for years.  But during Melbourne's second lockdown after losing a job due to Covid-19, my need for some peace and creativity was ever apparent. Something other than my non-existent schedule shifted this time and I decided to truly devote my time and energy to building a collection of designs.

Although it's been frightening, I am immensely grateful for everything that's come together to open up this path.  Ten months later I have completed a collection of nearly fifty designs, sold prints at a local artists' market, and completed my first mural.

Here you’ll find various prints of original designs, integrating precision into exuberant patterns and compositions.  My artworks are brought to life by nature, playful expression and influenced by the vibrant coming together of my uncles stone mosaics, my aunt and uncle's wood ornaments, and the ornate and colorful illustrations and gifts of my grandmother. As creating brings me to a place of purpose and aliveness, I hope you find the perfect pieces to bring life to your spaces.
